Everyday Heroes

" To be a CASA volunteer means being a friend, giving a smile or a pat on the back. It means saying to a frightened child, " I'm here for you, I will speak for you." It means having a heart full of love for a little person you have never met  before."

A CASA Story

When I was 7, my parents were hurting me. I was real scared. I asked my teacher if she could help me. It was real hard to tell her, but she said I could trust her.

Then I had to talk to a policemen with a gun, and a lady who said she had 6 other kids to see that day, and a judge who was so high up, all I could see was the bun on top of her head. they said I had to leave my house and go live with strangers. I had to share a room with 3 other kids. I missed my brothers a lot, and I was scared I would never see them again.

Then I met Marcus. Marcus would always come to talk to me, even when I moved or got a new caswworker. He listened to me when I was angry and held my and when I was sad. O knew he would always be there. he even remembered my birthday!

Now I'm adopted by a new Mom and Dad, and I get to live with my brothers in a new home. I am safe and happy because of Marcus. Marcus was my CASA!
